The Minecraft RTS Spinoff is Inventing new Enemies, Too

Like Minecraft Dungeons, Legends is creating new mobs that are compatible with Minecraft.

Magnus Nedfors, Minecraft Legends' creative director Magnus Nedfors, Minecraft Legends' creative director, and Dennis Ries, executive producer met at the Xbox booth livestream last week at Gamescom to talk about some of the details about Legends. They also gave details on the upcoming mobs that are both friend and foe. As with its past genre experiments, Mojang and Blackbird Interactive's new RTS spinoff is going to make its own mark in the Minecraft world. Dungeons broke the rules of Minecraft legend to create mobs that be appropriate for its action RPG world, and Legends is doing it too.

The big baddies in Minecraft Legends are the familiar Nether inhabitants, also known as the Piglins. The Piglins were revealed in the trailer's first trailer. While we're all familiar with Piglins and Hoglins in Vanilla Minecraft, Legends is adding what Nedfors calls a "Pigmadillo," which crouches down into a cube and, despite what you'd assume from the physics of a cube it is able to roll offensively towards the object it's trying to attack. Ries also explains that there are "Bruisers", which have two razor blades. Bit horror-esque, innit? The latest trailer for Mojang's cinematic film features both mobs.

On the other side you'll find two types of golems in your troops: the Cobblestone Golem who is great at taking down enemy structures and the Plank Golem which Ries calls a ranged unit. They also mention something called speed wheat as well as an specialized type of mushroom that allows you to jump extra high. You can use it to get across the world and unlock new areas in Legends.

Minecraft Dungeons also introduced new mobs, such as the Iceologers or Mountaineers. The Minecraft Live 2020 fan vote to select which mob to add Vanilla Minecraft to Vanilla Minecraft included the Iceologers.  Minecraft news They lost to Glow Squid, but I wouldn't mind seeing one of these Legends baddies have the same chance to achieve Vanilla Mine fame.

And in case you missed it, there is definitely a badger at the beginning of the trailer as well. Project Badger was the codename of Minecraft Legends before it was announced. It could be a reference to. But hey, maybe it'll make it to official mob status too.
